The ensemble’s energy combined with a wealth of teaching experience enthused young participants as part of the Brighton Early Music Festival 2010 and looks to build on this in 2011 in conjunction with Cambridge Education and Leamington Music.
The ensemble caters for all ages and levels of playing and can tailor days based on specific themes, events and musical styles.
“It’s rare that a public recorder workshop day, where children with such a big age range come together for the first time, goes by without at least one child becoming miserable or isolated or refusing to take part in the activities – and I know that it was very much down to how well you engaged the children and how you made them all feel comfortable and involved that this didn’t happen for a second. You are all natural teachers and the activities were engaging and very well thought out and planned – a really good mix of music-making, active listening and artwork and pitched at the appropriate level, bearing in mind both the age range (7-13) and the ability range (beginners to Grade 6). It is a huge achievement that all the children took something positive away from the day. Above all, your enthusiasm and liveliness are in themselves key to your innate ability to inspire the next generation of recorder players. Thank you so much for devising such a successful day.” – Brighton Early Music Festival
